Stop Motion
Stop Motion
For this session, we were asked to practise and create a stop motion animation. We first started with a practise piece, a pendulum that would swing to show weight, in turn changing speed. I did this, whilst also adding to it by making the ball snap off of the string and crawl away at the end. I really enjoyed creating and experimenting with this, feeling confident in the creation process.
We were then tasked to create an animation that shows overcoming or using an obstacle. I partnered up with Imogen and found this task really fun and exciting to do. Having a partner that I am very close with definitely helped in communication and the creation process, we were quick to come up with a narrative and a how to. We decided to create two ball characters in a chase scene, the larger one eventually catching and eating the smaller ball. Adding in the obstacles and playing with extra pieces and camera angles was really fun to play with. The only issues we came up with were the lighting staying consistent and the camera angles, of which I ended up holding in the same position the entire time.
If I were to look into stop motion again I would love to do it in a more professional manner, with equipment to help with lighting and camera work, and more challenging characters to control.
